Neverness to Everness 1.4: Pukaland & New Characters
Neverness to Everness has steadily expanded its open-world supernatural setting since launch, blending urban exploration, anomaly investigations, and character-driven storytelling. Version 1.4, titled “For Whom the Verses Mourn,” arrives on September 30, 2026, and stands as one of the larger content drops the game has received. The update finally unlocks the long-teased amusement park island of Pukaland, introduces two new S-class characters, expands the main and side storylines, and brings a fresh set of events, vehicles, and quality-of-life improvements.
Players who have been eyeing the unfinished park on the southern edge of the New Herland District will find their patience rewarded. At the same time, those focused on combat roster growth gain two distinct new main-damage dealers with very different playstyles. The combination of a full new exploration zone and meaningful character additions gives the patch a strong dual focus.
Pukaland Opens Its Gates
Pukaland has been visible on the map for some time, sitting as an island amusement park connected by bridge to the mainland. In earlier versions it remained inaccessible, its rides and structures serving mainly as distant scenery. Version 1.4 opens the entire area as a playable destination.
The park is divided into four distinct zones, each offering its own attractions and mini-games. Visitors can explore roller coasters, a haunted house, maze sections, western-themed areas, shops, and a castle landmark. Nighttime lighting and fireworks shows change the atmosphere after dark, giving the location a living theme-park feel rather than a static backdrop.
Engaging with the attractions earns Puka Stars, a special currency that can be exchanged for exclusive souvenirs, a new boat vehicle known as the Puka boat, gliders, titles, and other limited rewards. The main limited-time event tied to the opening is the Pukaland Travelogue, which runs from the September 30 launch through November 11. Players collect Wonder Stamps while exploring and unlock park-themed memories and rewards along the way.
Beyond pure recreation, Pukaland hosts new Anomaly Commissions. These investigation-style activities integrate the park’s playful setting with the game’s supernatural core, creating scenarios that feel distinct from the darker or more urban anomaly zones players have encountered before. The area also ties into City Tycoon progression through a Puka Membership Program. Advancing that track unlocks outfits for existing characters and, at higher levels, valuable S-class selection boxes.
For many players the simple act of walking the park after months of seeing it closed will be satisfying on its own. The addition of meaningful gameplay loops and reward tracks ensures the location remains useful long after the initial novelty fades.
New Characters: Blackbird and Akane Rin
Version 1.4 introduces two new S-class Espers on limited banners, split across the patch’s two phases.
Blackbird arrives first. She is a Psyche-attribute Main DPS who uses Gas Arcs. Her kit emphasizes holding basic attacks to slow enemies and applying pressure while transforming mid-combat into a more aggressive form described as the Witch of Delusion. In the open world she can also take on a bird form for traversal. Her limited board is called Foretold Finale and runs alongside a Lacrimosa rerun during the first half of the update, roughly from September 30 to around October 21. Blackbird has appeared in earlier story moments as a mysterious figure connected to Bridge Crossings and fortune-telling, so her playable debut continues an existing narrative thread.
Akane Rin headlines the second half. She is a Lakshana-attribute Main DPS focused on mid-to-long-range combat and area damage, using a Liquid Arc. Her playstyle leans into rhythm and positioning rather than the close-range transformation emphasis of Blackbird. Akane has prior connections to the band storyline involving The Whoots, and her release continues that side narrative. Her limited board, Dazzling Star, is expected to occupy the second phase from around October 21 through early November.
Both characters receive multiple outfit options through the mall, bond progression, and skin-perks events. Banner progression also awards customized gliders, outfits, and vehicle skins at certain pull thresholds. Limited boards share the same S-class pity counter and related progression systems, which helps players plan pulls across the two halves of the version.
A Lacrimosa rerun in the first half gives players who missed her earlier another chance while the new characters debut. The staggered release lets the community evaluate Blackbird’s performance before committing resources to Akane, or vice versa depending on team needs.
Story and Anomaly Expansion
The main story advances with the episode “The Witch.” This chapter takes players to the new Anomaly location of St. Arbor, a gothic, early-century themed area centered on witch-hunt atmosphere. The setting contrasts with the bright carnival energy of Pukaland and deepens the supernatural tone of the game.
A new spinoff storyline titled “To Us, Back Then” continues earlier side content, particularly material connected to the band narrative that involves Akane. Story content is distributed across both halves of the update, giving players ongoing narrative reasons to log in throughout the six-week version window.
Additional Anomaly Commissions appear both in Pukaland and elsewhere, including titles such as Night of the Last Bus, Lilliput in the Looking Glass, Perfectly Ordinary Dreams, and No Rest for the Cookies. These commissions remain one of the more distinctive gameplay pillars in Neverness to Everness, blending investigation, combat, and environmental storytelling.
Events, Vehicles, and Supporting Content
Beyond the headline features, Version 1.4 packs a full calendar of limited events. Pukaland Travelogue serves as the central park-focused activity. Other events include Coal Lump’s Treasure, Snap! Golden Crackshot, Puka Lucky Flip, Terminal Depths, and various returning or rotating modes such as stamina recharge and gold-related challenges. A multiplayer-supported Volley Star mode and improvements to Photo Mode’s Drone follow-cam add lighter side activities.
The second Porsche collaboration arrives with two new vehicles: the Porsche 911 Turbo (930) and the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package. These are obtainable through mystery boxes or the dealership shop. One of the cars carries a high Fons cost, so players interested in the full set will need to plan their currency carefully. Additional Porsche-themed cosmetics and titles round out the collaboration rewards.
Quality-of-life changes include expanded multiplayer support for certain modes, new friend recommendation tools, higher Hunter Supplies level caps with improved rewards past level 50, and various interface and performance refinements. New collectibles and auction-related content featuring Blackbird as an assistant also appear.
Login and milestone rewards give free Solid Dice, an avatar frame, Fons, and an Akane outfit to eligible accounts at different points in the version, lowering the barrier for newer or returning players.
What the Update Means for Different Playstyles
Explorers and collectors will spend significant time in Pukaland completing attractions, collecting stamps, and progressing the membership track. Combat-focused players gain two new Main DPS options with clear elemental and playstyle differences, plus a rerun that may fill existing team gaps. Story players receive both a main episode and continued side content that expands character backstories. Vehicle and fashion enthusiasts get new Porsche models and multiple outfit paths for the incoming characters.
The six-week structure, with a clear mid-version transition around October 21, allows the community to experience the first-half content thoroughly before the second wave of banners and events arrives. Shared pity systems across limited boards reduce some of the pressure of deciding which character to prioritize.
Looking Ahead from September 30
Version 1.4 feels like a natural progression of the game’s strengths. It opens a major map location that has been sitting on the horizon, deepens the narrative with both main and side stories, and expands the playable roster with two mechanically distinct S-class Espers. The amusement-park setting of Pukaland injects lighter, more playful activities into a game that often leans into mystery and anomaly investigation, while St. Arbor keeps the gothic supernatural tone alive.
Players preparing for the update can redeem the livestream codes while they remain active, stockpile relevant resources, and clear existing content so the new zone and characters can be engaged without backlog pressure. Once the maintenance ends on September 30, the gates of Pukaland open, Blackbird becomes available, and the next chapter of Neverness to Everness begins.
The combination of a full amusement-park island, two new main damage dealers, continued story, and supporting events makes Version 1.4 one of the more substantial updates the game has delivered. Whether the draw is riding the attractions under nighttime fireworks, testing Blackbird’s transformation kit, or following Akane’s band-related narrative, there is a clear reason for most players to log in when the version goes live.
