Free Fire The Unseen: Doll Support and Mask Tactics
The Unseen, a new event in Free Fire MAX’s The Unseen, brings a strange dilemma squad players: the playbook may be to get out of fights before they even start, and getting knocked out no longer means you have nothing left to contribute. Reveal Masks enable users to access the Hidden Side, where movement and exploration are different from traditional play, Doll Support provides downed teammates with another means of aiding survivors.
The event will be held from October 16 to November 1, 2026 [Source: Garena Regional Statement]. What really sets it apart is not just the horror theme. These traits can alter a squad’s approach to scouting, rotations, looting and team communication.
That said, they both aren’t to be considered as automatic wins. None of that matters if you’re shot and killed, and a friend in doll form isn’t a stand-in for a fully equipped player in a real firefight. The new spice is learning when to apply each mechanic and how to play around its weaknesses.
This is a guide for what you should vote for during The Unseen, not a list of the rewards.RBLS started The Unseen with, let’s just say a “gentle introduction” to the event: following a path, not deviating from it, and voting on what you bring through with you.
What Reveal Masks Really Change
Reveal Masks Reveal Masks allow you to access the Hidden Side, a dark complement of the match map obtainable through the event’s game modes. In this state, you can run faster, jump higher and use abilities on things which are otherwise invisible on the standard map.
These are changes that open up new chances for repositioning and exploring, but that also necessitate a new calculus of risk.
During a typical engagement, a player will generally assess cover, enemy positions, how far their weapons can reach, and the safest path between points. With the Hidden Side, there’s yet another consideration: Are you able to make the mask work for you, to find a better position before the enemy dictates the fight?
The mask isn’t a permanent combat upgrade. Event guides published in-game state that the mask ends when the player attacks another player or is damaged. Since this is a time-limited mechanic, please refer to the instructions in-game on your own client for the precise behavior applicable in your mode.
And the practical takeaway is this: Save the mask to enable you to make it through a fight, not as something to rely on when the bullets start flying.
Why movement speed and jump height matter
Extra movement allows you to do things like cover more ground, change your path, or get to a place that would take you more to get to otherwise. Higher jump height can also allow us to explore the level in other ways.
But the movement bonuses don’t make a player invulnerable. Dashing out into the open can still make you vulnerable to enemies, and getting somewhere faster doesn’t mean that place is safe.
Think of the mask as a temporary mobility and exploration tool. Its worth, is dependent on what you make of the chance it offers.
For example, your squad may suddenly need to depart an area when gunfire is heard nearby, yet perhaps the Hidden Side will afford the chance to shift position before re-engaging. But, if you’re already hemmed in, turning on a mask is not a sure means of springing free.
Reveal Mask: When to Use It
A Reveal Mask is best used before a premeditated action, when you still have the space and time to make a choice.
1. Before rotating to the next zone
Rotations are more than just travelling to the next safe location. A squad also has to think about the road, close enemies and if the members of the squad can move together.
The Hidden Side presents a good chance to move or explore hidden objects along the way. Before you activate a mask, determine where the squad wants to go and what you are trying to accomplish with the detour.
An effective rotation is purposeful. If you are relocating to a more advantageous position, refrain from turning the journey into an unwarranted pursuit of loot. The additional travel is only worthwhile when it contributes to the bigger picture.
2. When looking for hidden items
One of the reasons to explore the Hidden Side is the objects that appear in it. These may be worth investigating if your squad requires supplies.
However, not every hidden object will give you exactly what you need or every area will be uncontested. It is always more practical to view exploration as a chance, not a guarantee of finding something.
Before exploring, ask yourself three questions:
Is the squad currently safe enough to spend time exploring?
Can the player go back to the team without opening a dangerous gap?
Is the possible gain worth risking the next rotation?
3. Before moving in on a fight 3
Let’s say your squad catches the sound of gunfire out in front and wants a feel for the lay of the land prior to making a commitment. A Reveal Mask may allow you to change position or to have a look at event-specific items before combat comencement.
That doesn’t mean you’re going to run in the direction of the noise. You still have to factor in cover, teammate placement, and that possibly another squad is sitting off to the side.
Don’t use the mechanic to tell a story but to enhance one. If your squad is going to break for whatever reason, make sure they all know the route of retreat. If you get the feeling your team wants to fight, all right, but agree on who will close and who will cover from a long clear distance.
4. When to Degauss (Magnetic Opposites)
A participant who calls the losing fight early on has more choices than one who waits until all the exits are closed.
If you can safely activate the mask before you attack/take damage, the modified movement may allow for you changing position. But once the masked state ends, you should be ready to carry on as usual.
Don’t mistake a fleeting edge for protection. If the enemy is rolling with the punch already, the mask may be not enough time for you to get it.

When a Reveal Mask Is a Bad Idea
The mechanic has its limits, and defying them can turn a valuable opportunity into a useless move.
Do not use it as a halfway-fight-rescue button. If the masked state ends when you attack or are attacked, it’s not as if it’s something to bank on in a long trade.
Don’t you dare split the squad! A lone player who journeys off on his own may stumble upon a useful item, but he’ll also have less bodies to rely on if another squad attacks.
Don’t leave a strong position just to roam. Your team is already set up behind good cover, with a direct view of an enemy’s approach, and you leave that position to go off and wander, and you create more problems than you solve.
Don’t think that the Hidden Side makes you undetectable or invulnerable. The event grants unique movement and exploration benefits. Those benefits should not be mistaken as a guarantee that opponents can not threaten you.
Never search aimlessly, or pass the time fruitlessly searching. Determine if you are in need of supplies; a better route, or a safer course. If the explorations no longer supports that purpose, then re-group.
The strongest use of the mask is to be intentional. Enter the Hidden Side for a reason, make use of the opportunity, and return to fie ordinary combat decisions when the effect ends.
How Doll Support Changes a Squad Fight
A second major gameplay mechanic is what occurs after a player is knocked, now in eligible Duo and Squad modes (so yes, you can run it with Single here, just no respawns to be had!) when at least one teammate remains alive: An knocked player can become a Doll.
This doesn’t revive the player as a normal armed fighter. Instead, its support options mean the defeated player can still contribute to the match.
The Unseen’s published lore is that Dolls can roam in the Hidden Side and suchnewjs are also such actions, for the living teammates. Based on the controls that the game provides, these may include actions such as following and moving toward a teammate, buffing and use of special emotes.
That’s a different responsibility for the killed player. They don have to just sit on the sidelines wait for the match to end — they can try to help the ones still fighting.
The key limitation still exists: a Doll is not a spare gun in the squad. The living players still have to deal with enemy attacks, defend their position and make the calls on whether the team lives.
What to do right after you’re eliminated
Once you’re out, shift your focus from staying alive to helping your team. First, check which teammates are still in the game and what they’re doing. They may be fighting, escaping a threat, or getting ready to move to another area—your best way to help depends on the situation.
If someone is in the middle of a fight, don’t distract them with extra messages or emotes. When teammates are on the move, use the support options available to remain involved and help when you can.
Use location or movement signals with care, if your interface offers them. A clear, relevant signal can help a teammate; a confusing one can make a tense situation worse.
And don’t claim to know something you haven’t seen. Becoming a Doll doesn’t necessarily reveal every enemy’s location or show you everything on the regular map.
Doll-playing Scenarios and support situations in real life: Practical Doll Support Scenarios
Scenario 1: A Member of Your Team Is str uggling On Their Own
Imagine two squadmates are downed and the last player is fighting for their life. The remaining player still has to aim, move, resource manage and also make the call of whether or not to fight or run. A Doll can’t assume those duties either.
So be support, but not such a huge distraction the downed allies should be concentrating to get back to useful support, too. Keep the survivor’s status in mind, make use of your available support actions, and try not to send an incessant stream of messages when they need to focus. If the survivor decides to disengage, support that decision instead of harassing them to come back and fight for an elimination.
Saving the last breathing teammate for later might be even better than going for a pass at all.
Scenario Two: the survivor has to Rot line!
Support for a traveling player to help the squad stay somewhat connected may be a useful middle ground.
Dead teammates should take the path of least resistance, and take advantage of the available doll controls in the process. If the survivor changes course, change course instead of continually trying to make them come away from the destination.
This matters because a squad’s fortunes can change rapidly. An originally safe passage may be perilous after yet another team shows up or the zone compels a different pace.
The Doll’s role is to support the living player, not chart a course based on information that may be partial to the living player.
Scenario 3: The squad is just waiting for the last fight
Late game could be anyone’s game with all players alive. Doll support can help, but cannot make up for bad positioning, or a squad that is already quite weakened.
The surviving player needs to focus on cover, situational awareness, and a realistic evaluation of any threats that still exist. Disconnected teammate should also make use of any support is allowed by the event UI, just don’t pull the surviving hump off.
Never take Doll Support for a given comeback. Contributes to a different way to play, but it all still depends on the living player’s choices, the other team’s choices and the match status.
Reveal Masks and Doll Support: The Best Way to Combine Them
Both mechanics are best used when a squad views them as pieces of a connected strategy, not independent curiosities.
A living player can use the Reveal Mask to move and explore before a fight. Doll Support can then keep an eliminated player engaged in the remaining fight.
This does not mean every player should always go for the Hidden Side. The squad still needs to know when it is worth exploring and when it is better to stick together.
Here is a simple way to handle responsibilities before the match gets crazy:
Living squad: Rotate, explore, fight or retreat. Don’t depend on the mask to win a fight once it has started.
Eliminated teammate: Switch to support mode, monitor the living player’s status, and activate actions when appropriate.
Entire squad: Keep communications crisp and base decisions on the current match, not on how the event mechanics might function.
Is Doll Support Making Early Sorting Less Punishing?
It can make elimination less passive, but it doesn’t remove the repercussions.
In a traditional match, a knocked-out player usually has minimal impact on what happens next. The Unseen’s Doll mechanic also offers knocked out players new means to take part as their team life.
That can be useful for squads that talk well. A player who’s out of the fight can still be mindful of the team’s needs and take advantage of the support options open to them.
There is, however, a crucial distinction to be made between “staying involved” and “staying as powerful.” A Doll can not just stand in for the lost damage, defense, or independent thinking of a living teammate.
The mechanic should be considered more as a means to keep squad members who were taken out involved, not a free additional life. The surviving players also have to make the match work for them with the resources and the teammates they still have.
Frequently Asked Questions
How to access the Hidden Side Free Fire MAX?
During The Unseen, players can use a Reveal Mask in supported modes to enter the Hidden Side. Consult in-game instructions now to learn how to get and use the item in your preferred mode.
Does the Reveal Mask make you invincible?
No. The stated benefits for the event are faster movement, higher jumps and finding hidden things. These should not be interpreted as invulnerability. Also, published guides define the masked state ends when player attacks or is damaged.
Can dead players still assist their squad?
Yes. In Any Duo & Squad formats, the eliminated player (who is known as a Doll) can reincarnate as long as one teammate is alive. Dolls do this by “support options,” but they don’t get to come back as the usual armed combatants.
Is Doll Support a guaranteed squad win?
No. It provides you with a new way to play if you’re knocked out, but your surviving teammates still have to deal with the fighting, positioning and all of the other rope-a-dop match decisions.
When will the event The Unseen expire?
The Garena’s regional announcement show the event duration from 16 October to 1 November, 2026. Refer to the timer in your game for on an individual basis activities and rewards deadlines.
Will Reveal Masks and Doll Support still exist post-event?
This has not yet been confirmed. Consider both to be temporary event mechanics unless Garena specifies that they will be permanent or return.
